Nick Mason Concert in Pompeii

News

Pink Floyd returns to Pompeii, this time it will be the band’s historic drummer, Nick Mason, who will be the protagonist of this spectacular event, which will be held on July 24.

The strong bond that ties the band members to the historic Roman city dates back to 1971, when Pink Floyd first performed in Pompeii, inside the Roman amphitheater.

A bond that has lasted 52 years, which is why Pompeii was chosen by Mason as a stop on his tour of Italy. The Italian cities that will host the big event are: Vicenza on July 19, Palmanova on July 20 , Cattolica on July 21 , Matera on July 23 and Gardone Riviera on July 29. And Pompeii is one of them, just to testify to the enormous connection between the ancient city and Pink Floyd.

Nick Mason’s big concert will be held on July 24, in Pompeii’s Teatro Grande and not in the amphitheater as was the case in 1971, which is currently unavailable for concerts.

Mason will perform the same songs that the band played during their performance in Pompeii, Echoes, One of These Days and A Saucerful of Secrets.

Producing the event will be D’Alessandro and Galli, who were in charge back in 2016 of producing Gilmour’s concert, another member of the band, for his return to Pompeii

Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets concert will start at 9 p.m. For all information you can visit www.dalessandroegalli.com

Pink Floyd headlined a major concert in Pompeii back in 1971.

The event entitled “Live at Pompeii” was held behind closed doors in the Roman amphitheater and was a worldwide success.

Purpose was to record a documentary film dedicated to the historic rock band.

The initiative to hold the concert within the setting of Pompeii’s amphitheater was Marben’s. Who found himself inside the Pompeian site at the crack of dawn to look for a document he had misplaced during his visit to Pompeii.

Wonder of the amphitheater impressed him so much that he chose it as the setting for the event.

The shoot lasted four days, from October 4 to 7, and Pink Floyd decided to perform exclusively live.

To carry out the event the Archaeological site was closed for days, initially it was thought that at least 7 days were needed. But the event was completed 3 days early.

In the Amphitheater concert, the band performed three historic songs Echoes, One of These Days and A Saucerful of Secrets; the same songs chosen by Nick Mason for his performance in Pompeii.
