Can be easily reached either from Piazza Esedra or from Villa dei misteri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With an area of 2970 square metres, it is one of the largest in Pompeii, and belonged to a wealthy magistrate of the Satrii family, as testified by an inscription engraved on a tufa frame. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The wealth and social standing of the owner can already be perceived at the entrance to the house of the faun, located in Via della Fortuna. Characterised by a majestic doorway with decorated capitals and the inscription on the floor in Latin of welcome &#8220;HAVE&#8221; with multicoloured tiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1019\" height=\"611\" src=\"https:\/\/seepompeii.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/HAVE-POMPEI-2.jpg\" alt=\"HAVE sign at the entrance to the house of the faun Po\" class=\"wp-image-726\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seepompeii.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/HAVE-POMPEI-2.jpg 1019w, https:\/\/seepompeii.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/HAVE-POMPEI-2-600x360.jpg 600w, https:\/\/seepompeii.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/HAVE-POMPEI-2-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/seepompeii.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/HAVE-POMPEI-2-768x460.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1019px) 100vw, 1019px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The use of a word in Latin and not in the Oscan language (spoken at the time) was a way for the owner to flaunt his knowledge of Latin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Structure faun House of Pompeii<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The House of the Faun<\/strong>, like every typical Roman house, has an atrium where in the center of it is placed the impluvium, that is, the basin for collecting rainwater. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The atrium was decorated with mosaic floor and in the center of the impluvium was placed the <strong>bronze statue of a dancing satyr<\/strong>, interpreted as a <strong>faun<\/strong>, after which the famous house was later named.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Today, however, there is only a copy of the dancing faun in the archaeological park; the original is kept in the National Museum).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"698\" src=\"https:\/\/seepompeii.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/CasadelFauno.webp\" alt=\"Statue of the faun in the house of pompeii\" class=\"wp-image-315\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seepompeii.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/CasadelFauno.webp 1000w, https:\/\/seepompeii.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/CasadelFauno-600x419.webp 600w, https:\/\/seepompeii.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/CasadelFauno-300x209.webp 300w, https:\/\/seepompeii.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/CasadelFauno-768x536.webp 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The house of the Faun is characterised by the presence of two peristyles and two atria, most probably two different properties that were later incorporated into one large building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two peristyles were divided by a semicircular recess, called an exedra, which was the most representative room of the house.
