The Sorrento Coast, particularly Sorrento, is preparing to welcome the arrival of Christmas, many events are scheduled to make the most beautiful and magical time of the year even more exhilarating.
So not only sea, sun and heat, the Coast manages to give emotions even in winter. From the Christmas village, to concerts, to typical Christmas markets.
Sorrento has organized in a big way this new Christmas 2024 tagged “ M’illumino d’Inverno”.

The lighting of the tree and the Christmas Village in Sorrento
As is customary to kick off the entire Christmas program, it will be the lighting of the big Christmas tree placed in Tasso Square and the illuminations.
But not only many events on the calendar planned this year by the City of Sorrento.
Like the Christmas Village open until Dec. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Villa Fiorentino, where the little ones can meet Santa Claus, take a ride on his very own pony. But not only that, here they will be able to find his post office, the archive of the good and the bad, the stable of his inseparable reindeer and the bakery!
But it doesn’t end there, in addition to the little ones, the municipality has also thought of cheering up the evenings of the older ones. By organizing numerous food and wine events.
The chocolate festival and street food Sorrento Village
From Dec. 4 to 8, the 7th edition of Chocoland, the artisan chocolate fair, will be held between Veniero Square and Corso Italia. Where people will be able to enjoy chocolate of all kinds, from hazelnut chocolate, to pistachio, to classic milk or dark chocolate.
While from Dec. 6 to 8, Lauro Square hosts from 6 p.m. to midnight, the Street Food Sorrento Village, with Apecars that will offer pizzas, sandwiches, fried food, specialties from various regions and many other offerings all with a gourmet twist.
Pizza will be featured again on Dec. 24 at Pizzeria Da Gigino from 12 noon with folkloric entertainment and Neapolitan fried pizza; and on Jan. 13 at Pizzeria Da Michele, with free tastings.
Puppet show, artistic nativity scene and more
On Saturday, December 7 from 4 to 9 p.m. in Tasso Square, however, there will still be a puppet show by the Mercury Brothers.
Which will also continue on Sunday, December 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on December 30 and 31 .
Also on Sunday, December 8, there will be the opening of the artistic nativity scene set up in St. Francis Church at 6:30 pm. But not only that at 11:00 a.m. at the Tasso Theater will start Cartoon Circus organized to entertain the little ones.
But it doesn’t end here because always at 6:30 p.m. in Piazza Lauro, the traveling tombola ( the typical Neapolitan tombola with the participation of Marco Palmieri) organized by Confcommercio Sorrento will kick off.
Sorrento Jazz at the Tasso Theater
Sorrento Jazz, the historic festival founded by the late Antonino Esposito, is back again this year, now in its 25th edition, kicking off on Dec. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the Tasso Theater, with the Caponi Brother Quintet, and continuing on Dec. 17, with Javier Girotto, on Dec. 18 with Danilo Rea, and on Dec. 19 with Gegè Telesforo Big Mama Legacy.
Also the Tasso Theater is hosting a show titled “All the Lights of the City,” which will see the likes of con Antonio Milo, Carlo Buccirosso, Maurizio Casagrande, Michele Placido, Silvio Orlando and others on stage, with artistic direction by Massimiliano Gallo.
While on Dec. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Basilica of St. Antonino there will be a Christmas Concert, featuring Soprano Valeria Ioviero, Pianist Aniello Iaccarino, Violinist Francesco Spagnuolo;
Living nativity scene in the gardens of the Episcopal Palace
On December 25,28 and 30 and January 1,2,4,5,6 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., the living nativity scene will open in the gardens of the Episcopal Palace. An unmissable event that will feature numerous citizens of Sorrento, who for the occasion will impersonate the characters of the timeless nativity scene typical of the Neapolitan tradition.
From the knife-grinder, the carpenter, the washerwoman, to Joseph, Mary and the baby boy. An event not to be missed, full of emotion and traditionali.
Fireworks and New Year’s Concert
To celebrate the end of the year and the opening of the new 2025 from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. at Tasso Square there will be NEW YEAR’S EVE 2025 with entertainment with live music, DJ and animation;
And at 01:00 at Marina Piccola in Sorrento the fireworks display in the beautiful Gulf of Sorrento.
A unique spectacle for young and old who will be able to admire the sparkle of the fires shining in the mirror of water of the Gulf.
In short, a rich Christmas, full the one organized by the City of Sorrento that will fill the days not only of Sorrento citizens but also of the many tourists, who as every year decide to spend the Christmas vacations in the magical setting of the Sorrento Coast.
