At the Great Theater of Pompeii: the concert the Ways of Friendship by Riccardo Muti

News

The Great Theater in Pompeii will once again be the stage of honor hosting one of the biggest concerts in this summer 2023.

On July 11, it will be the turn of the extraordinary festival “The Ways of Friendship” directed by Riccardo Muti.

A festival designed to pay tribute to the extraordinary generosity of the Jordanian people, who for years have been welcoming refugees fleeing the war in neighboring Syria.

There are three dates to attend this incredible concert. Which will start in Ravenna, then continue to Jerash in Jordan and end precisely in Pompeii, in the Teatro Grande.

A concert that unites the two invisible cities, Jordan and Pompeii, united by the terrible fate that made them famous.

Jerash buried by sand after a devastating earthquake in the 8th century and returned to glow thanks to the relentless work of archaeologists.

And Pompeii buried for more than 2,000 years by ash and lapilli after the devastating eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. and accidentally rediscovered in 1748.

The two ancient cities conquered and built by the ancient Romans, despite the terrible fate have risen in an excellent state of preservation from their own ashes.

Jerash referred to by all as the “Pompeii of the East,”. Conquered by the Romans around 64 B.C. boasts colonnades, temples, paved streets, theaters and buildings so reminiscent of ancient Western Pompeii.

It is no coincidence that the festival will be held in the Theater of the two great Roman cities that made the history of this ancient people.
